I mainly prefer playing jazz, but play all types of music, (especially improvised music of any kind...)I love it all! I also play for the Worship team at The Fishkill Vineyard church. I have held that chair for almost 5 years, playing every weekend.I am a proud endorser of Precision Drum Company, I have played PDC drums since 1995, you can see me on the website www.precisiondrum.com . I also love to collect drums, see my photos for my beautiful Precision Drum Company drums, and also my early 1960's Round Badge Gretsch kit, as well. I am also an instructor, I teach all levels of drumming, in all styles from rock to jazz and beyond. I am a huge fan of all of the great masters, particularly Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Max Roach, and Jack Dejohnette. Of the current players I really dig Adam Nussbaum, John Riley, Brian Blade, Billy Cobham, Dennis Chambers. I am also a guitar fan, I love everything from Jimi Hendrix to Led Zeppelin to John McLaughlin, John Abercrombie, Mike Stern, Nels Cline and Pat Martino. I have a huge collection, (thousands!) of live recordings, of rare jazz and fusion stuff, I love to collect and hear all that stuff from around the world as well... I am currently forming a jazz quintet, featuring the amazing Tom Porto on saxes, and am playing in Approaching Storm, a Christian band. I have studied with a number of well known drummers, notably Samir Chatterjee on tabla. I currently am teaching at New York School of Music in Walden,NY, two nights a week, and teach privately as well.
