About Me |
|
| Warm Climate has been known to play songs, document the sounds of volcanic ash, and perform selections from Stockhausen's Aus Den Sieben Tagen. ____________________________________________________________ FRESH OUT OF THE OVEN! Circle Dub / Regrettable Form A true labor of love and our greatest achievement to date. Phantom Limb thought so too and we’re delighted that they wanted to release it. Here’s what they have to say about it: “Never judge a book by its cover. A simple adage, but very appropriate in this case. Warm Climate's Seth Kasselman might not seem like the most forceful and intense guy, but this orchestrator of chaos has created one of the most brutal works of music to date. "Circle Dub / Regrettable Form" is a concerto in 3 parts for the noise set, taking clarinets and shimmering guitars and laying them alongside found sound and heavy doses of raging deep static. A profound and mind-altering experience, to be sure.” Limited to 90, pick it up at www.phantomlimbrecordings.com also new (sort of)... Timid Festival: A Collection of Field Recordings Dug out of the archives (recorded Dec 31st 2001 – Jan 1st 2002), Timid Festival captures a New Year’s Eve drive down the California coast, in true documentarian / vérité fashion. Returning from our journey just minutes before the clock struck 12:00; we put a mic outside, then listened and responded to the world with whatever resources we had available. Aside from a gun blast and a sly thief, it was an unusually still holiday, which is captured well on this disc. Moving at the pace of breathing and rarely rising above a whisper, this is not a typical Warm Climate disc, nor was it ever intended to be. Each CD comes with hand drawn, one of a kind artwork and is housed in a durable cardboard shell. Limited to 50, or until I get tired of making the laborious artwork. Hit us up if you’re interested._________________________________________________ ___________ Discography Calculate the Greatness CDR (RBCA003), Robert Barry Construction Associates, 2000, out of print Avalanche Lectures CDR (RBCA005), Robert Barry Construction Associates, 2001, out of print Of Home CDR (RBCA006), Robert Barry Construction Associates, 2001, out of print Lame Park CDR (RBCA010), Robert Barry Construction Associates, 2004, out of print Earth and its Resources split CDR EP w/ Cantus Firmus (RBCA011), Robert Barry Construction Associates, 2005, out of print Forced Spring for Rising Tide CD (RBCA013), Robert Barry Construction Associates, 2006 Agnomen 1 CDR, Obsolete Units , 2006 Circle Dub / Regrettable Form CDR, Phantom Limb , 2007 Timid Festival: A Collection of Field Recordings CDR, RBCA, 2007 Mangler Redbeard CDR, RBCA, 2008 |

Music:Member Since: 4/10/2005Band Members: Seth K. + friends Influences: Ornette Coleman, Bee Gees, Clyfford Still, decomposing wood, Tahitian Choral Music, obsolete maps, Ilhan Mimaroglu, Andy Goldsworthy, abandoned construction sites, Phil Collins, Gerhard Richter, Olivier Messiaen, Alois Haba, Etienne Jules Marey, Leonard Cohen, etc... Sounds Like: "From the Wall-era Pink Floyd-via-Edward Ruchalski opening, to its creased-velvet crackle and strum finish; Warm Climate’s Forced Spring For Rising Tide is the very definition of far-reaching." DaveX, Startling Moniker "The duo strikes a nice balance between something approximating an accessible form of jazzy folk on one end and an avant-garde bent rooted in experimental sound and collage art on the other, incorporating significant elements of both worlds to create something far more mosaic-like than traditional folk / jazz, but still relatively accessible to open-minded listeners of those genres as well as collage / experimental devotees." RKF, The One True Dead Angel "This disc is a strange one, and of course it's Meant to Be Like That but I think it should be said anyway because it really did throw me (and is throwing me) a curve. Something else that should be said is that opening track "Sincerely, the Moon" has to absolutely be one of the worst anythings I've ever heard at all in recent memory. " Outer Space Gamelan "Seth has always been one of my favorite singers and songwriters, since I very first heard his voice sing "Set it forth..." on a tape I received in the mail after answering an ad in the Recycler. This album (Lame Park) pushes (and elongates and makes staple art all over) the envelope. This is the most extreme mutation yet from Warm Climate. Seth channels some of the darkest characters I've ever heard bubble up from "in there." I'm not on this album so I can say all these things objectively." Rune F.
