| Al, Big Al, that's who! I've been drawing entertaining caricature portraits since June 1985 (and still do!). As a boy I enjoyed drawing cartoons of animals and in junior high started making funny faces of my teachers. While attending college I would sketch comedians while they performed at various SF Bay Area comedy clubs as early as 1983. In 1996, I won the "Silver Nosey" award at the NCN's annual convention in Houston, Texas. In 2000 my caricature of "Atomic Jenny" was voted one of the Top Ten Caricatures of the year. From 2002 until recently I would sketch burlesque dancers and models of all types at various venues. I've had work shown at galleries in San Francisco, Pleasanton and Hollywood, California. In 2003 my Foamcore Femmes were shown at Echo Gallery in Chicago. PinUp Caricaturist - Glamour, style, and simplification with pencil, ink and watercolor. Small town Bay Area boy who likes to explore the big city and hopefully not be devoured by it! Here's a selection of images I've drawn at various National Caricaturist Network conventions. Music:I'm all over the place with music. In the last year or 2 I've seen a few concerts. Some with my lovely wife and some with the boy and/or the girl. The Yoshida Brothers were outstanding. American Idol (Taylor Hicks season) ... eh. Christina Aguilera and the Pussycat Dolls exciting and fun. Rockstar: Supernova - overall okay - the highlight was Dilana kickin' ass on a song with Dave Navarro's band! My favorite performance was the tightest set: cohesive, polished yet exciting and amazing - My Chemical Romance as "The Black Parade" - when My Chem does their own thing I thing it just kinda falls short (or me), but the Black Parade set was just awesome!!! Last concert I went to was Projekt Revolution with the kids. It was pretty cool! |
