The easiest way is probably to check if it blends in with our general attitude to life. With its first note, the first syllable sung it's there with us to change the way we feel. This is where the Trip of Triband's new album begins. Whether softly flowing or in a stirring up-tempo: these songs float unresistingly into ourselves. They push a hidden reset key inside us and make us susceptible to comforting shivers. This music churns up the body: not ecstatically, but organically. We subtly begin to breathe its rhythm, finally finding ourselves on a fascinating inner trip – an intense Trip through the entire range of our own pulse beat from calm to racing. Because one thing is for sure: this music is alive! Triband consinsts of the founding members Sandie Wollasch (vocals), Sebastian Studnitzky (trumpet, keyboards), and Tommy Baldu (drums), as well as Michael Paucker (bass) who has joined in as the fourth band member. The list of greats from jazz, pop and electronica these four have worked with during their carrers so far is as long as it is impressive, but not really of any importance here. Because Triband is much more than the sum of it's members' professional experiences: it is one of the few grown creative collectives in today's music scene. This team's members constantly inspire each other and respectfully put one very plausible insight into action: "We simply play and compose best when we're together." The ten songs on Trip, Triband's new and second album, have an almost physical presence, and while they are playful and full of relish, they are still consistently developed from rough, strangely unconsumed grooves. They connect laid-back songwriting of timelessly good pop music with the freedom and the attitude of jazz. They confidently blend these two universes into a distinguishably self-contained sound, a luscious urban cocktail, seductively light, but still heavily inspiring. Triband adds depth to lifestyle. Woran erkennt man eigentlich gute Songs? Vielleicht am ehesten daran, dass sie sich wie selbstverständlich in unser Lebensgefühl einfügen. Mit dem ersten Ton, mit der ersten gesungenen Silbe sind sie fühlbar da und verändern unser Empfinden. Genau hier beginnt der Trip des neuen Triband-Albums. Ob sanft fließend oder im mitreißenden Up-Tempo, diese Songs beamen sich widerstandslos in uns hinein. Sie drücken eine verborgene Reset-Taste und machen uns, sozusagen auf Knopfdruck, empfänglich für wohlige Schauer. Denn diese Musik wühlt den Körper auf. Nicht ekstatisch, sondern organisch. Unmerklich beginnen wir, in ihrem Rhythmus zu atmen. Bis wir uns schließlich auf einer faszinierenden inneren Reise wieder finden, auf einem intensiven Trip durch die ganze Bandbreite unseres eigenen Pulsschlags: von ruhig bis rasend. Denn eines ist sicher: diese Musik lebt! Triband, das sind die Gründungsmitglieder Sandie Wollasch (Gesang), Sebastian Studnitzky (Trompete, Keyboards) und Tommy Baldu (Schlagzeug) sowie, als festes viertes Bandmitglied neu hinzu gestoßen, Michael Paucker (Bass). Die Liste der Größen aus Jazz, Pop und Elektronic, mit denen die vier im Laufe ihrer Karriere zusammengearbeitet haben, ist beeindruckend lang, tut hier aber nicht wirklich etwas zur Sache. Denn Triband ist mehr als die Summe professioneller Erfahrungen: eines der wenigen gewachsenen Kreativ-Kollektive der aktuellen Musikszene. Ein sich permanent gegenseitig inspirierendes Team, das respektvoll eine bestechend einfache Erkenntnis umsetzt: „Gemeinsam komponieren und spielen wir einfach am besten.“ Die zehn Songs auf "Trip", dem neuen, zweiten Album von Triband, sind von einer geradezu körperlichen Präsenz, lustvoll verspielt und doch konsequent aus harten, aber eigentümlich unverbrauchten Grooves heraus entwickelt. Sie verbinden das relaxte Songwriting zeitlos guter Popmusik mit der Freiheit und dem Lebensgefühl des Jazz.
