About Me

Hi, my name is Tim Wilson aka DJ Timmy Dub, 23 years of age

Since a very young age I was exposed to a lot of progressive rock and ambient music in the form of Can, King Crimson, Brian Eno etc. My family had a big influence on me, especially my father and uncle, who introduced me to the wonders of vinyl when I was 12. My first 7" single being the "Last Day" EP by the great English band " Silver Sun ".

I taught myself the guitar around this time and also played the Violin for 2 years, where I reached a level 4 grade. I decided to stop when I realised it wasn't really my thing and embarked on a big mission to find the best music out there. Crossing the paths of electronica, death metal, ska, house, rockabilly, reggae and many many more, I began to filter out what I thought was relative to my needs.

Drum and Bass entered my life around 2001, thanks to a particular Andy C set at Reading Festival . A few dance festivals followed and there was no turning back. Ditching my KAM belt drives in 2004 I finally invested in my trusty Technics 1210s and was able to record professional sounding demo CDs.

In the mean time, I studied Business Studies at the Nottingham Trent University (2003-2006) for my Bachelor of Arts Honours degree, majoring in Strategy and Entrepreneurship. To be honest, I chose this particular subject solely for it's ambiguity and ease of getting a good grade with minimal work. This let me concentrate a lot more on getting out and finding new music.

University also allowed me to endulge in the art of music production. A few of my friends were already familiar with the likes of Cubase and Reason so we would play around till the early hours of the morning, most often sleeping through our lectures the following day.

My demo CDs managed to score me some DJ slots in Nottingham, where I would play regularly at the Westside Bar and at the notorious "Edge" nightclub near Sneinton.

I moved back to Birmingham in August 2006 and it wasn't long before I embarked on my own musical journey, producing beats that were regurgitated from my years of musical influence. I also secured a weekly Radio Show for online radio station " Digital Dancefloor " where you can catch me mixing the freshest Drum and Bass for 2 hours every Wednesday at 8pm GMT.

160 concerts, over 750 bands and I still feel like I've only touched a fraction of what's out there. I'm currently working on a handful of projects that will hopefully see the light of day sometime this year.

I am also looking for web designers who need jingles or musical themes to go with their web pages, so if that's you then get in touch! It's all free and all relative :)
