| I was trained as a Buddhist monk in the monasteries of Thailand, Burma, and India, and have taught meditation worldwide since 1974. My work is focused on bringing alive the great Eastern spiritual teachings in a way that is accessible and truly helpful to our western society. I am a husband, a father, and a founding teacher at the Spirit Rock Meditation Center and the Insight Meditation Society. I also hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
