About Me

Facets of me are anthropologist, archaeologist, returned Peace Corps volunteer (North Africa 2003-4), and teacher. I love Morocco, Mexico and Belize. I love the Barbary macaque, Colobus monkeys, mountains, oceans, seas, the moon, the desert, the jungle canopy, and always ... the diffused throttle of a rumbling Harley. I appreciate the sacrificing natures of the elderly. I love my students. They energize and exhaust ... by turning the mirror on me. They are like gurus, teaching me more than I might ever aspire to teach them. I am completely blown away by the repetitive bifurcation of all living things.

My Interests

Exploring other cultures, sifting detritus for artifacts, participant observation research, world peace, modeling peace in the classroom, symbology in the Mayan underworld, sublime unadulterated photography of children, art embedded with spiritual symbolism, music and its effect on memory, cartography, architecture. actually, creativity from all genres...

I'd like to meet:

Those who possess integrity; those who walk in peace and compassion; who respect all forms of life; those who believe in the spiritual aspect of love; those who can relinquish the chatter long enough to absorb the peace within silence; those who contribute good vibes to the planet and others; and those who know that less is more.

Music:

I like all music...even some rap.

Movies:

Sundance films, foreign films, The Phantom of the Opera, The Merchant of Venice, Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile, Secrets of the Maya, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Lord of the Rings, Crash, Napoleon Dynamite, V for Vendetta, all Matrix, Chocolat, Kill Bill 1-2, Harry Potter series, Babel, Blood Diamond, Stardust, Ratatouille, I Am Legend, The Kite Runner...

Television:

Telescope, not television

Books:

Ones that cause me to marvel, escape, or feed my soul.

Heroes:

Mother Teresa, The XIV Dalai Lama, King Mohamed VI of Morocco, Rumi, Hafiz, Marco Polo, Pancho Villa, Che Guevara, Joseph Campbell, St. Francis of Assisi, a couple of my friends...
