| Born in Wichita, Kansas and raised in Chicago, IL. Reign Star began writing poetry at the age of twelve. Poems soon evolved into songs as Reign began to pen songs for other artist/friends. Convinced that her destiny was to ghost write Reign never knew that she would be the one to introduce her words to the world. It was only after she accepted a challenge from close friend/Chicago rapper Vice Verse to recite one of her poems at an open mic, at the famed Funky Buddha Lounge located in Chicago,IL. Reign soon discovered that she had a voice that was unique and powerful.
Determined to blaze her own path Reign teamed up with Detroit native producer/drummer Daru Jones. The two devised a plan to infuse poetry and hip hop production to create a spoken word project that stands alone. The upcoming project titled “The Experiment” set to release Jan 08 is a blend of tracks laced with live instruments and dirty bass backed by gritty poetry Ms. Star strives to be a voice for the misinformed and the misunderstood. It’s through poetry she speaks for those who have suffered and overcame, those lost longing to be found and for everyone who feverishly pursue their dreams. Reign is truthful and inspiring.
