Through our work, we will create socially conscious, uplifting theater productions for a new and mature African-American audience. Diverge Entertainment believes that the African-American theater audience is ready for something more than tradition. Audiences want something that will not only “take them away for two hours” but will also recognize what they can obtain and who they can become. In all that we do, the production team of Diverge will address issues that emotionally, psychologically and spiritually challenge audiences. Through experience, we believe that a talented and committed group of acting professionals, armed with a great story and powerful dialogue, can effectively entertain, encourage, and enlighten an audience. As a result, Diverge will extend a new perspective of theater art currently not represented in mainstream urban theater productions. With a professional, experienced production team, Diverge will creatively impact the industry through our original projects that inspire, enlighten, and captivate. In the end, Diverge strives to be concerned not only with commerce, but seriously takes responsibility for making a difference in the way the urban audience appreciates theater. SUMMARY: Patricia Cuffie-Jones , Artistic Director and Playwright for Diverge Entertainment, believes that it is time to step out of the box and “break away” from the norm.
