| Academy in the UK returns in 2008 with the Vive Le Punk tour bringing 14 hours of Punk mayhem and madness to 4 major cities on 2 punk rock filled weekends in the UK. The Damned and Buzzcocks headline the events and will be showing exactly why they are held in such reverence across the globe. From kickstarting a musical and cultural revolution these rare appearances will see them perfom together, headlining the bill alternatively at each weekend. With a catalogue that includes 'New Rose','Ever Fallen In Love','Neat Neat Neat','Orgasm Addict','Harmony In My Head', 'Eloise', 'Lovesong','Boredom' and 'Smash It Up' to name but a few, these 2 artists continue to define what Punk rock is - electrifying audiences with nothing less than sheer magical musical brilliance. In support comes the fantastic Venus destined space age punk-pop of The Rezillos alongside the gloriously infectious 2-Tone beats of Ska Superstars - The Beat. Special guests coming exclusively from mainland Europe celebrating their 20th anniversary will be the furious incendiary Psychobilly powerhouse of Mad Sin who will be playing alongisde what are for many one of the most powerful of all the bands to come out of the anarcho punk genre - Subhumans. Also making a rare appearanc will be the legendary Zounds whose album the 'Curse of...' to this day remains one of the greatest Punk records of all time. Add to this the favourites of everyone from Metallica to Queens of the Stone Age - the 110mph car crash punk rock of GBH devasting the stage with the legendary Charlie Harper led UK Subs. Further additions to the bill include the wonderful furious double bass driven Psychobilly sound of the Long Tall Texans and Frenzy performing together with the forvever catchability of Ska sensations Spunge. Londons finest Deadline also take the stage with the glammed up Punk rock sound of Goldblade leading a charge with the defintive Drongos for Europe weighing up the balance of the ferocity of this Punk assault. The Grit currently enjoying success around the globe put in a performance as well as one of the most intense and exciting bands playing in the UK today - New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack. If that was'nt enough just add the equivalent of Wanda Jackson meeting Motorhead in the form of Dragster and the effervescent youth of 4ft Fingers coupled with the musical insanity of the Briefs frontman Stevie Nix and his Cute Lepers. From Liverpool to Birmingham to Bristol to Newcastle Academy in the UK hits these shores with what has to rank as one of the most exciting Punk line-ups ever.
