About Me

Lewis Handford is a freelance drummer based in Montreal who has been playing drums professionally for the last ten years. After finishing high school; Lewis joined The Belvedere Broadcasters, the only authentic 1920’s dance band on Vancouver Island. He was part of that band for a year before attending the music program at Capilano College in North Vancouver. There he majored in percussion and jazz performance. While at school Lewis was exposed to many great teachers such as Andre Lachance, Dylan Vanderschyff (Brad Turner Quartet), Bruno Hubert (Brad Turner Quartet), Dave Robbins (McGill College graduate, John Korsruds Hard Rubber Orchestra), and Brad Turner (Metalwood). After completing his studies at Capilano College; Lewis returned to Victoria to freelance and was fortunate to work with many talented local players such as notable Canadian songstress and adjudicator Louise Rose, Tony Blodgett, Gord Clements, Dave Flello, Joey Smith, Adam Dobres, and James Young. From 2004-2006 Lewis played music on Princess cruises and Royal Caribbean International. There he performed with many notable acts such as: The Coasters, The Platters, The Drifters, Bobby Arvon(Happy Days theme song), Tavares("Heaven must be missing an angel"), Las Vegas performer Greg Bonham, plus many more. In November 2006 Lewis re-located to Montreal. Presently Lewis is working with The Mittenstrings(Lily Lanken, Sylvan Lanken, Joel Zifkin, Anna McGarrigle), Laurel Jackson and The Attractives, DNA studios, Martin St. Germain, Ciaran Wynne, and various freelance projects. Lewis also has recently began the illustrious career of tour managing Ladies Of The Canyon who are one of the newest up and coming bands on the Canadian music scene.
