Wilsum uit Kampen wint Dommelsch Locals Only Award 2008 De band Wilsum heeft met ruim 17,5 % van alle publiekstemmen de Dommelsch Local Hero Award 2008 gewonnen. Woensdagavond is in de Amsterdamse Sugar Factory de uitslag bekendgemaakt van de jaarlijkse verkiezing van Dommelsch Locals Only! on Tour met LiveXS.

De Kampense band Wilsum krijgt hiermee een intensieve tournee aangeboden langs een groot aantal festivals als Parkpop en Dauwpop en in het najaar langs toonaangevende poppodia als de Effenaar, Tivoli en 013. Naast Wilsum zijn voor deze vijfde editie van Dommelsch Locals Only! on Tour met LiveXS ook Outerspace Overdose uit Alkmaar, Chemisphere uit Den Haag, Kern Koppen uit Den Haag, The Excitors uit Den Haag en Airbag uit Amsterdam verkozen tot local heroes door een deskundige vakjury. Wilsum heeft hierbij als winnaar het voorrecht om als enige zich te presenteren op alle optredens uit de tour. In vier uren podcast is de bekendmaking inclusief de eerste reacties van de winnaars inmiddels gratis te downloaden en terug te luisteren.

WILSUM plays hard-rocking seventies rock ‘n roll. Coming from Holland’s own Memphis, they set the stage for an electrifying show that won’t let you stare at your feet, but stomps you right in the face. In the best rock traditions, and inspired by bands like Grand Funk Railroad, Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin and The Who, WILSUM brings catchy songs that don’t just stick but stay.

In 2005, WILSUM won “de Oogst van Overijssel” band competition and, as a result, toured all across Holland in a package with talented regional bands. WILSUM also recorded a video that year and, in 2005, 2006, and 2007 organized the Chrome Circus festival, all editions featuring well-known Dutch bands. As yet WILSUM played at some major venues, including Eurosonic (European showcase festival), and supported among others Andre Williams, The Answer, The Toydolls, Peter Pan Speedrock, AC/Dshe. Wilsum was also voted Local Hero by the Dutch Magazine: LiveXS.
December 2006, WILSUM started recording for their debut album with producer Guido Aalbers. Guido has worked with major acts like Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand, Angie Stone and Live (www.guidoaalbers.com). The Album was succesfully released on 6 oktober 2007 on vinyl (Minstrel Music) and on cd. At the same time Wilsum released their first comic book by Roy Bergsma! The Album was presented to Wilsum by Koos van Dijk (Manager Herman Brood)!
