Setting up a whole studio on stage, their live-sets are spontaneous and unpredictable. Using synthesizers, vocals, trumpets and percussion on biscuit cans, the five band-members celebrate their joint vision between pop and electronic dance music. Melancholic melodies and lyrics clash with tough beats.LAN stands for Local-Area-Network, which means connecting computers and making them talk to each other. And that was the basic idea of LAN in the beginning. The early “LAN-Sessions” took place in the basement of a club in Berlin-Kreuzberg with five wired computers in 2005. They were electrifying sample-wars containing fragments of the LAN-members’ productions. But soon the session idea turned into a band feeling: Improvised sequences alternated with filigree compositions. The computers were replaced by hardware and real instruments - trumpets, live-drums and vocals - creating LAN’s unique fusion of human and machine-made sounds. Influenced by half a century of pop-music, the band builds soundcastles as big as airport terminals and as cozy as the neighborhood pub.
