Up dharma Down is a Filipino band that has interestingly broken and combined musical boundaries in their songs. A lot of people don't know how to classify the band. Well, the band is clueless too. The best way to understand this nameless genre is to listen to their music. BBC U.K. and Time Magazine Asia have blessed them to push their music internationally. They have started doing so in Hong Kong and Singapore's Mosaic Music Festival. Being an independent band needs a lot of work. But their efforts have been gratified with NU107 In The Raw Award (2005), NU107 Best New Artist (2006), NU107 Best Female Award (2006), and MYX Favorite Indie Artist(2008). They are the first Filipino band to be featured in MTV's Advance Warning show. They also have/had endorsements with Coke, Lipton, and Adidas. The band has been together for 4 years now. It all started with a vague hunch of doing anything that felt right with their songs. And the universe just let every note fall into place like a big giant puzzle that still doesn't want itself to be fully solved. The musical ride continues and we are all expected to expect nothing in usual reason. Their second album is slated to be out this 2008.
