About Me

Skeptic is Dave Cutter originally from Forest Gate, East London.

He started out as a Drummer for various local bands, playing gigs in and around London, members changed, locations got better, gained a decent following and released a few tracks.

The band started to introduce some back beats from an Amiga 500 running Protracker, then out came the EMU and the Atari, "It just seemed more productive, there was no need to drag all the equipment down to a rehearsal studio, we could all just work on our own ideas then try to bring them together". They gigged on for a few more years, then life gets in the way and the decision was made to go separate ways.

A few months later Dave made contact with 'Asides' from the well established Eastside Records and Fuze Recordings, "A good friend of mine happened to meet him in a record shop and they exchanged details, he passed them on to me so I sent Jay(asides) a CD with about six tracks on, I've still got an old copy of it on MD and its quite funny to listen to, you can hear how so much has changed between then and now"

Asides picked up on a track called 'Diagram' from the CD, took it back to Dave and asked him to work on it, "It's strange because Jay would tell me to tweak this bit up or EQ that bit or cut a certain bit out, and at the time I would be thinking 'I can't hear anything wrong with it', but listening back now it seems so obvious"

A short while later, 'Diagram' was released with 'Vapour' on the flipside and people started to take notice, "It felt real good to actually hold a copy of my own record, it was like holding a gold bar"

Shortly to follow was 'Grip'/'Luminous' on Fuze Recordings then 'Revolution','Relay','Bottleneck','Case','Cracked OPX' then came 'Tear', "Tear is one of those tracks that doesn't happen very often but when you get one you find yourself writing it from start to finish like bang bang bang done because your excited about how good it is, then you listen back to it and think how the hell did I do that?"

Tear was released on Eastside Records and enjoyed a large appreciation worldwide, "It was really good to hear that people were listening to my music and that it was getting played out at venue's all around the world"

Then at this point a situation developed in Dave's life that had a profound effect "I lost one of my parents due to illness, this really affected me, I was younger back then and couldnt see it at the time but I didnt want to show any change, looking back now I can see that it had a big effect on my life, something had changed in me and I couldnt seem to get the same rawness to my music" Dave took a break from writing music "I just wasnt getting anything done that I was happy with, and everytime I came up with something I didnt like, that just made me even more reluctant to write again", "I left the music thing alone for a while and started to mess about with graphics and photography for something to keep my creativity going, but life moves on and eventually you sort the shit out in your head"

So in late 2005 Dave decided it was time to come back, and in what better way than from where he left off, just with a few years experience added to the mix, and so 'Tear 2006' was released on the first of the 'Eastside Diamond Series' alongside Asides 'Crazy 2006', both tracks got played heavily all over the world and people are intrigued to hear what the next stage will be.

Skeptic is currently working on new flavours, some of which can be heard here on the myspace player, check back for more tracks soon.
