| Rural Swine was formed in 1988 by brothers Jim and Bob Phillips, with Dave Sinclair. They grew up as neighbors in Kinston, NC creating the background for great songwriting. Kevin Chodniki was the starting lineup on drums following with Scott Credick, Chris Haynes, and Scott Jones who perfomed the longest with Rural Swine and played on all Rural Swine recordings. Scott Jones now lives in San Francisco, CA. After Scott left, Kevin Rhodes (Lamont Skylark) played a memorable Rural Swine show and now, a damn yankee, John Wade and Greg Clayton are our current drummers.Rural Swine has recorded 1 demo and 4 albums: Finger Lickin' Good-demo (1989), Rural Swine-Paul Johnson, Coastal Carolina Studio (1994), Do He Bite?-Paul Johnson, Coastal Carolina Studio (1995), Selfish and Unneighborly-Alan Weatherhead, Sound of Music (2000), Butterflies and Ticklefights-Alan Weatherhead, Sound of Music (2001).Rural Swine's claim to fame was an episode of "G vs. E", on the USA network. No one in the band actually saw this episode. The episode featured 3 Rural Swine songs with Jim's bass line on "Lifeless" opening the show and two guys talking about "Country Swine" and referreing to Dave and Jimmy as "Glam rock sellouts"! It was recorded, however, and only Jim has seen it. The band has also been featured in a Juice Magazine compliation (1995), a punk rock compilation called Bomb Threat (2001) and several "Lost" surf videos.After 20 years together, the shows are still as fun as they ever were at Ortons in 1989. | |
