| david was a huge fan of jazz ,corny movies and cartoons, he had a strong belief in god and went to church with his family often. | |
I'd like to meet:I used to go see David play when I was a 15 year old kid living in D.C.(1983), he was one of the best guitarists in the world back then.If you don't believe me ...Listen to the first 3 H.R. albums and judge for yourself!!!!If you don't know who they are then you need to find out. David passed away in the Winter of 2002. He was my best freind and I played music with him for ten years.I am starting the "David Byers Foundation", as a tribute to him. We are a charitable organization, and have just donated to "Music for Life", who promote music education programs in our schools. I also want it to be made clear for a fact that david did not hang himself.i know alot of people knew dave and i can see how a rumor like this could get started.he was sevearly deppressed.but not suicidal.i was in contact with him up until the day he died.and in fact i had recently told david that the band 311 had been covering his songs and that they owed him a large amount of money witch i was told by earl hudson(bad brains)was there for him to collect.he died before collecting one cent.his parents received the first check about a year after his passing and i helped them collect it.NO DAVID DID NOT HANG HIMSELF.he was fighting to collect what was owed to him and some musical recognition .i am in contact with his family and i chek on them from time to time,and i was the ONLY non family member invited to the funeral and i was a pallbearer.so i know what killed david,depresion and a phychiatrist that was prescribing him big bottels of oxycontin and zanax(a deadly combo) without supervising his use.i used to ask him who and the hell was prescribing these drugs like candy to a deppressed person.so give the rumors a rest ,its enough of shame already that someone that brought so much talent and beutiful music to this city was not honored and payed more respect in life and death.Peace Grant O.G.Garretson , drummer chucky sluggo |
