With his free-improvised conduction he uses hi-technology electronics like laptop and somekind of softwear with sine-wave collage inspired by Asmus tietchens in late 90's not the 80's-tietchens. And lo-technology like cutup-tape-recorder with endless drone influenced by Steven Stapleton from NWW, Maurizio Bianchi in late 80's, or those ICR soundARTists , Colin potter and Darren tate. And shotahirama using this "color-bar-generator" makes 400hz to 4khz sine-wave. Endless drone for secret ambient... Making bitter-sweet-noise by touching broken-turntable and yes without record of course, like Christian Marclay. How'bout table-guitar like Kevin Drumm from Mego music by Pita, and the other electronics like sampler, analog modeling synthesizer. Yes, he knows.. The error, glitch, and noise, he knows you don't want those stuff. But he knows that a true meaning of sound, you can find a TON (OTO, sound) in those electronoise situation. And he found this "ELECTRONOISE GROUP" (he founded in eary 2006). That is a free-session techno with 10 or more unspecified laptop artists. Formed with 10 or more. IKEDA is a japanese installation artist whose doin'"WA and ONKYO" by silent ambient music. Using guitar and teble-effector, a generated guitar with feed-back and reverb. Sounds like Rafael Toral from Portugal, synthesize time and space. The sound of time and space. Mr.David Syilvian, you must see his silent-installation. Also he's doing visual-effects using MAC and "Motion Dive Tokyo". It is exciting to see when he does generating guitar doing laptop visual effects. shujiTAKAMI is one of the most famous laptop artist for tokyo techno-culture. He's doing' with an old-schoolstyle, you know click and cuts style like from Mille plateaux or whatever, with his original sampling machine and tape recorder connected with FM short-wave. And using MAX MSP, he manipulates IKEDA's reverb guitar and turnes into dynamic electronoise sounds. His electronics identity and stlye with his under-cultural expressionism, this two factors are forcing us to world-wide electronic-music band. kendrien is a solo artist using laptop-technology and from his minimal soundtrack, it gives a new-wave to japanese music-culture. His idea is influenced by some new genaration of progressive techno, like the sound from Border community, CANADA. James Holden and Nathan Fake. Also he got inspired by early 90's downtempo composition, like thomas fehlmann from the Orb, and great experimental ambience by Richard D. James aka Aphextwin. Those new-wave and classic aritists gives him a lots of imspiration, the ideas. After that, I mean soon he became one of the most important minimal-expressionist artsist in Tokyo-techno culture. His activity area, in other-words, his expression space is experimental and club-music venue "MILK" it is in ebisu, and that's the place where every tokyo techno-indies are going, and he plays there every weekend and showed us a massive and gigantic click'n progressionism music. Less-information and more imaginally soundscape, that is his identity. And not to shut-down a communication with his audience, always have a contact with his outside and each sounds he tries to give you theinformation, those info's are made by his minimal composition, but you can see a huge landscape and soundscape. Dynamism with story telling click'n, you'll know those are massive and minus. That is his techno-music. shimizu With MPC and Laptop, and that is it. Cut up from history and time and space. Cut up from you and your daily-life time. Cuts and drop and loop it. And that noise, turnes into a sound which contains a musical information. That would be music, or not. He doesn't care much. There is no information in music. But there is an information, in his cut-up-sounds. Collage-Art from one little dream-boy. Hey, Mr.Dan Snaith (aka MANITOBA), listen to his non-escapable sounds. That is not a music. And those "expressionists" get together and run for this shotahirama's ENG at tokyo, whatever place, not the techno underground or soundART area. With shotahirama and his ENG artsits are doing this experimental expression with free-improvisation activities in some normal place, I mean like some gig house, a venue, and yes, sometimes someplaces. Whatever places that are not an experimental. Because they know its importance, to do this project in normal situation, and people knows that the ENG is a true AVANT-GARDE BAND. shotahirama (*NIkO) / color bar generator400hz to 4khz + KORG SE-500 tape echo Hey..This is shotahirama and today I want to intro this project, the event we're going to have next 27th on Nov, at LOOPLINE-Tokyo. The title is call "DEEP LISTENING CHAIR by shotahirama and his electronoise group" Im going to do this installation with my equipments.. that is not musical thing. Do anybody knows Color bar generator? It makes 400hz to 4khz sinewave and I'll give an effect to that long tone sinewave with KORG SE500. The sound, I mean the drone will take 4hour or more. And I want to show how sinewave drones changes into the ambient music. I dont play the sinewave I just put down there and press the button to ring the tone generator. Well, if you have any interests come and see this secret installation... And at the same time, same area, same time line, we are going to "share" that soundspace and have this fantastic soundART performance. The artists with laptop, trumpet, feedback guitars..whatever.. So this installation+live, theres no music thingin, only the people who knows what is a "LISTEN", and that people can understand this installation. From Unfoundsound Records, Ryo Miyashita. Is a Japanese who lives in Tokyo and doing his Techno activities with his minimal expressionism and yes, the laptop. I have no idea what kind of softwear he use but you know once you listen to his soundmaking, you cant see anything. You cant see any music expression, theres no functional stuff to move your dancin body. From NIkO and also the original ENG member, shunjiTAKAMI is a Japanese whose doin solo act with laptop and his expressionism identity. From early 90s he was doing techno-music with no fun for its expressionism and minimalism. I mean he founds out that tokyotechno (which he was into) is not on the right way to go. I mean its direction, is not correct way to go. When he quit all the acts with his techno thingin he got new tools with max msp and this ENG. His electro and noise goes to more experimental area and that sounds and identity, now he knows that this is what he wants to do. yap..he is cool.. shunjiTAKAMI on myspace .

"The cOLLAGE" is a laptop duet plays an electronica/techno music from tokyo, by kendrien and shotahirama. They hate to use, I mean they never say that those kind of word, electro...whatever, but just in case this time. I will use it. Eary in the 2006, electronoise and free-improvisation artist shotahirama, who made his electronoise community with 10 or more laptop artists, ELECTRONOISE GROUP ( ENG ) and the solo arists whose doin' his techno activities with his minimal soundtrack and his identity, a progressionism composition idea, newwave techno artists in tokyo underground, Kendrien, both two artists got together and made their 1st click tune "commercialized our identity", and from that little conversation or might be little installation for this two guys, they began to work together and they decided to start their new-activity with their new name, cOLLAGE. They made tunes, I mean a work, an ART-work, from minimal to progreesionism. That means minus composition and less information to plus composition and more sound dynamism. With kendrien's imagination, his sound gives you a silent but great view landscape, they call "a sound from uncivilized landscape that you have inside your imagination" And with shotahirama's ego, his electronoise gives you a "listen". "Act listen is to know listen". It is like the word by Pauline Oliveros, but for me he got a same identity with her Oliveros idea for deep-listening.
